Whirl Pong Tournament Rules

Thanks for joining us, and welcome to the most chaotic game of cup pong you have ever played: Whirl Pong — spinning cup pong.

This is a single-elimination tournament. Win and move on. Lose and you are out.

Teams are added to the bracket in sign-up order. Earlier sign-up means a better seed and a better chance at a first-round bye if byes are needed.

How It Works

  • Check in before the bracket is made.
  • Be ready when your team is called.
  • Winners advance.
  • Losing teams are eliminated.
  • Some teams may get a first-round bye based on sign-up order.
  • After each game, the winning team must tell staff their team name so the bracket can be updated.
  • If a team does not show up to their table within 5 minutes of being announced, they are disqualified.

Game Rules

  • No time limit.
  • Each player on the team shoots each turn.
  • Elbows must stay behind the table.
  • Balls back rule applies.
  • No defense.
  • Bounce shots count as one cup only.
  • Each team gets one re-rack, and it can only be used during their team’s turn.
  • Redemption is allowed. Teams that make both shots on redemption automatically win.
  • Staff has final say on all disputes.

Overtime

If both teams are tied after redemption, overtime begins.

  • Each team puts 3 cups back.
  • Teams continue playing until there is a winner.
  • If overtime happens again, each team puts 1 cup back.

Keep It Fun

Be competitive, but be respectful.

Unsportsmanlike behavior can lead to a warning, forfeit, or removal from the tournament.

Good luck and have fun!
